STILLWATER, Okla. —
The city of Stillwater is suing a Stillwater woman accused of injuring a police officer in a car wreck.
The suit contends that Morgan Kiley Klabenes is responsible for hitting a police car from behind causing damage to the car and permanently injuring the officer.
According to an accident report from March 2011, Kablenes told investigators while on Perkins Road she tried to stop behind the officer who was turning left into a business, but her brakes would not catch.
According to the report, the officer said he had injuries in both shoulders, arms, lower neck and upper back possibly from hitting the seatbelt. He also said he possibly had whiplash injuries. He was transported to the hospital.
According to the suit’s petition, the wreck caused permanent damage to the officer. The city is seeking payment for disability payments, medical treatment and costs for payments in lieu of salary for the officer in excess of $10,000.
