STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater Public Schools will offer free meals to children 18 years old and younger this summer at Skyline Elementary School, Stillwater High School and Southern Woods Park.

The program begins June 3 and concludes July 26.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at Skyline, 1402 E. Sunrise. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stillwater High School, 1224 N. Husband, will be a summer meal site for the first time. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

A free sack lunch will be served at Southern Woods Park, at the corner of Hester Street and 12th Avenue, from 11:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

All sites will be closed on July 4.

“We know there are a lot of kids who don’t have a great source for meals outside of school,” said Krista Neal, director of child nutrition in the district. “And it’s good to put structure in the days. ... It’s a good gathering place.”

Adult meals also will be served at all locations for $1.80 for breakfast and $3.15 for lunch.

The school district also will provide a free shuttle service to and from Skyline.

For more information about the shuttle service, call the district transportation office at 533-6347.

“Stillwater Public Schools is excited to be expanding our summer school feeding program to our high school site,” said Kellee Brown, the district’s public information officer. “This is a great program for the community and the children of Stillwater.”

The summer meal program is funded for approximately $38,000 the district receives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Last year, 9,349 people attended for lunch and 2,731 for breakfast.

The breakfast menu includes waffles, cereal, muffins, egg sandwiches, yogurt and biscuits and gravy. The lunch menu includes pizza, grilled chicken, turkey sandwiches and chili. Milk is included in the meals.
