STILLWATER, Okla. — NAME: Christi Barr

JOB TITLE: Office assistant

SCHOOL: Richmond Elementary

You recently were named the support staff employee of the year for Stillwater Public Schools. What was your reaction to winning the award?

While I was certainly grateful and humbled by this award, I am a small part of an amazing team. I accept this award on behalf of the many exceptional support staff workers that make Richmond such an amazing place to work. I am truly honored.

Many other support staff employees were nominated for the award. What would you say about the job they do?

All support staff, districtwide, should be commended for their selfless, invaluable and dedicated service to making Stillwater Public Schools what it is.

I am a product of SPS and am proud of where my children go to school and the direction this district is going. We have fabulous leadership from top to bottom.

Everyone in the school system has a role in the education of students. What is the role of support staff?

Our vision is all the same. We are here to provide a safe and supportive learning environment in which every student can thrive and succeed. My hope is that we can foster a positive and trusting relationship with students to improve our individual school’s climate. There’s not a better place to live and educate my children than Stillwater Public Schools.
