STILLWATER, Okla. —
Cushing Superintendent Koln Knight said there will be an increased law enforcement presence at Cushing Public Schools when classes resume Monday, three days after the middle school was locked down due to an anonymous tip.
“We’ll be back on our regular schedule, back to routine,” Knight said. “And routine anymore is being observant.”
Knight said someone made an anonymous notification to an online tip line Friday afternoon to report an unspecified threat to the middle school. He said the threat was external and unsubstantiated.
Teachers continued classes but students were not allowed to go outside. Students were allowed to leave on time after school.
Knight said the increased police presence at each of the schools in the district on Monday is “to reassure parents that everything is OK.”
Knight said Cushing police have ramped up their presence at the school sites since December.
“They have been at our schools more anyway,” Knight said. “The Cushing Police Department has been wonderful in being very visible around our school campuses.”
