STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater Art Guild is set to present its 2013 Spring Judged Show and Art Sale starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Stillwater Community Center.
Organizer Jeanette Johnson said they hold the show to honor the artists in the community and surrounding area.
“It’s wonderful to be able to say thank you,” she said.
The show will be judged by Dale Martin.
“He’s painted for a number of years and he’s done workshops for the Stillwater Art Guild and other places,” she said.
Johnson said Martin has the ability, no matter the medium, to know what he’s looking for when it comes to presentation.
Those attending the show will not only be able to ask questions of the artists on hand, but take part in a gallery talk by artist Lynn Schwartz.
“I went to the Capitol and her work hung in the big gallery that’s there,’ Johnson said. “She has these huge paintings on the wall. Normally, you don’t have artists who you know who hang in that gallery. She has painted for a number of years.”
Johnson said Schwartz’s work is known everywhere and she is graciously willing to share her work and techniques with others.
Two live painting demonstrations will take place from artists Mireille Damicone and Sue Baker. The art being presented will be on display until April 4.
However, attendees who wish to purchase any of the art will be able to contact the artist whose information will be available. The show is free.
Johnson said the show is for families to enjoy.
“Every year, we try to present something different,” she said. “We all come to the table with different skills, different ages, different ideas and we come together and present something that will touch the heart of the community.”
