Perkins man's hearing reset for May 6 in child-abuse case

STILLWATER, Okla. — A Perkins man accused of beating a 9-year-old boy with a paddle for liking the University of Oklahoma Sooners better than the Oklahoma State University Cowboys appeared in court Monday.

Gannon Mendez’s case was reset to May 6 by Judge Katherine Thomas.

Mendez, 41, is free on $2,500 bail. He is charged with child abuse.
