STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater United Way is slowly coming close to its yearly goal, but is looking for residents’ help to meet it.
Executive Director Sheri Carter said with the newest figures after donations last week, the group is at $830,000 of its $850,000 goal.
“We had several that came out last Friday night to our holiday gala at White Barn,” she said. “We raised $1,300 at that event and then we had several donors make Christmas donations in honor of somebody.”
Several others made additional donations, and the money is slowly filtering in, she said.
All money raised will go to the 23 local agencies partnered with the United Way.
“We’re going to keep going at least into January and our plan right now is to be completely finished ... at the end of January,” she said.
However, Carter hopes they will not have to extend that far.
“It’s not too late,” she said. “We’re so close and every little bit is what’s going to get us there.”
