Perkins Chocolate Walk slated Friday and Saturday

PERKINS, Okla. — An event that aims to introduce Perkins residents to new businesses will celebrate its second year starting Friday.

The Perkins Chocolate Walk is a two-day event. It will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

"It is an opportunity to get people to come out and find out about the businesses in the community and what they offer," said Perkins Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Branum. "We have quite a few new ones and we want people in our town to know that they're there and what they offer."

Last year's event was marked with cold weather. Branum hopes the weather will improve for this year.

Residents are invited to walk in to any of the 12 participating businesses to enjoy different chocolate treats and pick up their punch card.

Once the card is stamped from all 12 locations, the cards are turned in at Hidden Oasis Day Spa for a drawing to held Saturday.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
