STILLWATER, Okla. —
Stillwater recieved a dusting of snow Wednesday followed by rain. More sleet, freezing rain and snow were expected Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation though little or no ice accumulation is expected. There is a chance of less than a half inch of snow accumulation possible.
Stillwater Emergency Management Technician Rob Hill said Thursday morning could be the most dangerous time as tempertures are expected to dip into the teens Wednesday night. Hill said this could create slick road conditions for the morning commute. He cautioned drivers to be careful when braking and to increase following distance.
He advised those travelling outside of the city to check the Department of Public Safety for road conditions or delay travel, if possible.
Hill asked residents who get involved in collisions to move their vehicles out of the roadway. However if there are injuries he said to avoid moving and wait for emergency crews.
Hill said city crews are poised to sand or ice roads should the weather become an issue.
