STILLWATER, Okla. —
Stillwater is set to honor veterans and active members of the military with a parade this Veteran’s Day.
Parade organizer Rachelle Buck said more than 23 entries have committed to taking part in Sunday’s activities.
“We have a lot of veteran organizations and military organizations involved,” Buck said. “We have about 300 soldiers marching and we have the Patriot Guard riders.”
Staging for the parade will take place at Food Pyramid at 11:40 a.m.
The parade route will proceed north on Main Street and end near the Cimarron Shopping Center.
Soldiers will then be transported to the Veteran’s Memorial at Boomer Lake for a ceremony.
“There will be an Air Force flyover at the beginning of that and we have our battalion commander (Maj. Andrew W. Ballenger) speaking,” Buck said.
Buck said this is something that she would like to see become a Stillwater staple.
“This is something that we’re not only thanking our soldiers, but thanking our Stillwater community for being there for the families of the soldiers who were deployed,” she said.
