Glenna Craig wins Payne County clerk election

STILLWATER, Okla. — Glenna Craig will be Payne County clerk.

Craig, a Republican, captured 12,694 votes, while incumbent Linda Hatfield grabbed 12,555.

Craig said she was relieved.

"It had been a really long night and long campaign," Craig said. "It was nip and tuck all night."

Hatfield said she would consider  a recount, but "I'm not sure at this point."

"Of course, I'm a little disappointed. But we gave it everything we had. We worked hard. I'm proud of my campaign. The way it went. The way it was ran. At this point, I just go on with my job," Hatfield said.

The totals include absentee mail, early voting and election day ballots.

They don't include 29 provisional ballots accepted by the Payne County Election Board. Those ballots must be vetted before they can be counted.

Chase Rheam and John Filonow contributed to this report.
