STILLWATER, Okla. — An annual Stillwater tradition is set to take place again this year.

Jingle Bell Sweepstakes will pick a winner Dec. 15 at Pioneer Stadium at 10:30 a.m.

Residents can increase their chance of winning by shopping at participating merchants and receiving tickets to enter into the drawing.

Stillwater Chamber of Commerce staff member Linda McPherson said merchants will begin handing out tickets Friday, with the last tickets being given out Dec. 14.

McPherson said 57 merchants have agreed to work with the chamber on this year’s event.

“My goal was 60 merchants, but we have exceeded what has been done in previous years,” McPherson said.

Merchants can still add their business to the list. However, since the deadline has already passed, those merchants can only be involved in the online experience, she said.

The event has a website this year at www.jinglebellsstillwater.com. The new addition to the traditional event will be a big help to ticketholders and businesses, she said.

“Residents will be able to log on and track their tickets,” McPherson said.

While they will still have to present that ticket the day of the drawing, it will make the experience easier, she said.

McPherson said participating businesses will be able to keep track of how many tickets they have given away if a resident logs it on the website.

“We have everywhere from restaurants to banks to pharmacies to retail clothing stores (participating),” McPherson said.

The winner of the drawing will take home a total of $10,000 - $5,000 in cash and $5,000 in vouchers which can be used at participating merchants.

McPherson said they are also soliciting businesses for donations of products valued at $300 or more for giveaways.

McPherson said she hopes to see an increase in tickets at this year’s Jingle Bell Sweepstakes, which is being held for the fourth time.

“Last year, we gave out over 300,000 (tickets),” she said. “I hope we give out over 400,000 this year.”
