Ripley woman killed in traffic accident Wednesday

RIPLEY, Okla. — A 29-year old Ripley woman died after a two-car accident two miles south of Ripley Wednesday morning. The accident happened at 7:43 a.m.

Jessica Hornberger died at St. Francis hospital in Tulsa at 1:34 p.m. Wednesday. She sustained injuries to her head, body, arms and legs and was airlifted to the facility.

The driver of a second vehicle, Melissa Valley, 27 of Cushing was treated at Hillcrest Hospital in Cushing and released, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The car driven by Hornberger was traveling south on State Highway 108 and was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto State Highway 33. The car driven by Valley was heading west on State Highway 33, according to the report.

According to the report, the sun prevented Hornberger from seeing the other car. Hornberger’s car pulled out in front of Valley’s car, which struck it on the driver’s side door.

Hornberger had to be extricated from her vehicle. It took approximately six minutes.
