Provisional ballot may decide Red Rock election

STILLWATER, Okla. — Two candidates running for Red Rock’s Board of Trustees received the same number of votes in the general election Tuesday.

Alberta Kirn and Rosa Tohee tied with 17 votes each. However, the tie may be resolved soon.

“In Red Rock, there is an outstanding provisional ballot, so we are researching that provisional ballot now and on Friday when the election board meets to certify the votes, they will decide if the provisional vote is a registered voter in the precinct,” Noble County Election Board Chief Clerk Carla Barnes said.

If the vote counts, it will decide the election. If it is found the provisional ballot does not qualify, there will be a drawing to decide the election.

“The secretary of the election board will set up a time when (Tohee and Kirn) will meet and an impartial party will draw one of their names out of a container,” she said.
