Magazine recognizes Oklahoma State as contender in tailgate contest

STILLWATER, Okla. — Southern Living magazine has recognized Oklahoma State University for what Cowboy fans have known all along — tailgating is king on game day.

The magazine listed OSU as one of 15 contenders for “The South’s Best Tailgate.” The competition is being hosted until Sept. 30 on the magazine’s website. Visitors are asked to enter their votes once a day and twice on Saturday until the end of contest. The winner will be announced at a home game this fall.

Other contenders include the University of Texas, Clemson University, Louisiana State University, Virginia Tech and the University of Alabama. The universities were chosen based on most spirited, traditionalism, powerhouses and style setting.

“In the South, pre-game celebrations matter as much as what happens on the field,” said Southern Living Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Bierman. “We’re asking readers to decide which school best honors our great tradition of Southern hospitality with the most stylish and spirited spread.”

OSU and others will be recognized in the Sept. issue of Southern Living on newsstands Friday.
