STILLWATER, Okla. — Wings of Hope Family Crisis Services will host its annual “Hope and Light Walk: An event to honor victims of domestic violence” on Thursday.

Those wishing to join the walk must meet at 6 p.m. on the Boomer Lake pier.

Senior Councilor Melissa Oliver said all are welcome.

“The event is to honor victims, especially those who have lost lives to domestic violence,” she said.

A candlelight vigil will be held following a walk around the lake. Dogs are also welcome.

Oliver said those attending are not required to walk. She estimates the vigil to begin at 7 p.m.

Stillwater Community Singers will perform. Candles are lit and a poem will be read.

Oliver said Janett Reyna’s story will be shared. Reyna was the former Ponca Tribe Domestic Violence Prevention Program coordinator. Her boyfriend is accused of stabbing her to death in August.

“Overall, there is a somber feeling out of respect for them,” she said.
