Stillwater City Council to discuss building lease with kitten-rescue organization

STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater City Council will consider leasing a city-owned building at 901 S. Lowry St. to Tiny Paws, Inc., a kitten-rescue organization, at a special meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis St.

Tiny Paws works with the Humane Society and city of Stillwater Animal Control to care for and conduct adoptions of neo-natal kittens. Tiny Paws has outgrown its current facility, according to a report prepared by Director of External Services John McClenny.

The city building at 901 S. Lowry was declared surplus by the City Council and was one of several properties scheduled for public auction in October. If the City Council approves the lease, staff will not proceed with the building’s sale.

City councilors also will consider adopting a new zoning map for the city. The new map would replace one adopted in 2008.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
