BREAKING NEWS: Armed man robs store in Perkins

STILLWATER, Okla. — A man brandishing a black pistol robbed the Family Dollar Store in Perkins at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and fled the scene on foot.

Perkins Police Chief Bob Ernst said police responded in less than a minute after the robbery occurred and are searching the area around the store, which is located at 507 E. Hwy. 33 in Perkins, and taking statements from people who were inside the building when the armed robbery occurred.

Ernst said the armed robber matched the description of a man connected with a string of six robberies in Stillwater since mid-January.

Ernst said the suspect was a black male dressed up like a female. The suspect was wearing a shoulder-length wig that appeared to be black or red, black heels, tan pants and a gray shirt. Ernst said the suspect, who was wearing sunglasses and a black headband, also had a thin mustache, although Ernst did not know if it was real or fake.

Ernst said the suspect entered the store and went directly to the cash register at the counter. After the armed robbery, the suspect fled eastbound on foot. Ernst said he did not know if a vehicle was involved.

No one was injured in Wednesday’s armed robbery but an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
