Warmup on tap after Stillwater snow

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater, along with much of the state, spent Monday cleaning up after several inches of snow fell Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service’s observed snow totals, Stillwater and Payne County received 2.5 inches of snow in the storm. The snowfall led to several minor accidents as vehicles lost traction in icy slush.

Oklahoma State students took to Twitter to display their displeasure that university classes remained on schedule despite the winter episode.

Several area school districts did cancel classes, including Stillwater, Agra, Cushing, Frontier, Glencoe, Morrison, Pawnee, Perry, Ripley and Yale. Additionally the Stillwater Senior Activity Center, Multi Arts Center and Project Heart in Carney, Cushing, Pawnee and Stillwater closed due to snow.

Warmer weather over the next few days should melt snow left over from Sunday. According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s high is expected to be in the low 50s. Wednesday could bring storms and a high of 60 degrees.
