STILLWATER, Okla. —
Oklahoma State’s football team knocked off its fourth AP top 10 foe under Coach Mike Gundy with a 49-17 victory over Baylor Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd at Boone Pickens Stadium.
The win puts OSU (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) in the driver’s seat for its second Big 12 Conference championship in three seasons, and a return trip to the Fiesta Bowl.
Baylor (9-1, 6-1) lost for the first time this season. OSU extended its winning streak to seven straight.
“We have really good kids who play hard,” Gundy told ESPN after the game. “I’m very proud of their preparation. They came together as a group six or seven weeks ago and they continue to work hard. Our defense is playing pretty good right now. Offensively, we had a pretty good night as well.”
The Cowboys could clinch the conference title with a victory over Oklahoma on Dec. 7. The game will be played at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Oklahoma State has won seven straight since an early-season loss to West Virginia.
“I think we created an identity,” Gundy said. “Our defense carried us through the majority of the season and the offense continued to get a little better. Our kicking game has been really good and we’ve been fortunate, we’ve stayed pretty healthy. They believe in each other and they work hard.”
