STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Payne County Expo Center’s kitchen turned into a fruit pie factory this past week.
The Payne County Home and Community Education organization prepared approximately 225 pies for the Payne County Fair. Pie flavors made include peach, apple, apricot and cherry.
Jodelle Stout was one of the women helping make and bake the pies. She said cherry and apricot pies were the favorites among fairgoers. The pies will be one of the favorite items on the menu Tuesday through Saturday at the fair, Stout said.
The group makes the pies to help raise money for scholarships and activities. Stout said this is one of the fundraisers for the group and is important for its success and for the educational success of others.
Not only did the group prepare pies for this week, but it will also prepare chocolate, lemon and coconut cream pies daily at the Payne County Fair.
If a person likes a pie, he or she can buy a whole pie for $11. Mostly, people buy pieces of pie with their meals at the fair, Stout said.
