STILLWATER, Okla. — The National Weather Service reports Stillwater received 2.19 inches of rainfall in less than 10 hours as a result of a severe storm to make its way through northern Oklahoma.
In addition to the substantial rainfall, the thunderstorm also included at least one lightning strike at the Oklahoma State University campus, spokesman Gary Shutt confirmed Friday. Drummond-Kerr Hall was struck by lightning, knocking off a corner block of the building. No one was hurt and there was no interior building damage, he said.
A small section of University Avenue in the Westwood neighborhood also closed temporarily while city of Stillwater crews examined asphalt damage. The road reopened a short time later.
