STILLWATER, Okla. — A 250-pound jail inmate attacked and choked a female detention deputy and tried to bite another before several deputies could restrain him.

Hank Edward Miller, 40, of Antlers, is charged with assault and battery on a police officer and assault on a police officer. According to an affidavit, Miller attacked a female detention officer from behind as she was putting medications together.

He came up behind the officer and tried to place his arms around her neck and wrapped his legs around her. He then tried to use her as a shield, the affidavit shows.

Deputies wrote the inmate attempted to strike and bite at them as they tried to detain him. The inmate was put in a restraint chair after a struggle.
