CARNEY, Okla. —
Several Carney residents looked over what remained of their homes Monday after a tornado skirted the Lincoln County town on Sunday.
Ila Clark's home and barn sustained major damage as part of the storms. She said the moments in her storm shelter with four other family members were quiet except for the sound of snapping branches.
"You could see, it was a big, old black cloud," Clark said.
Clark and her family made it through the ordeal safely, but windows and portions of the frame of her house, including the roof, were destroyed.
The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army were on site at the Carney Senior Center to assist by serving food, drinks and providing tools and support.
Work continues to be completed on homes and other damaged areas of Carney.
