Thousands raised in fundraiser at annual gathering for Stillwater Public Schools

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater Public Schools, teachers and students have several thousands of dollars coming their way.

A fundraiser by the Stillwater Public Education Foundation has raised approximately $18,000, said foundation director Jenifer Bartley.

Bartley said the money was raised through donations and ticket sales to Tuesday night’s fundraising gala at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.

Bartley said that after expenses such as renting the alumni center, food, decorations and invitations, the foundation will have approximately $12,000 to $14,000 additional funds for schools, teachers and students.

The foundation’s grant allocation board received the last of 13 applications on Monday, Bartley said. The panel will meet and review the grant applications on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday afternoon, several members of the SPEF will travel to school sites to award the grants to teachers and schools.

Bartley said the SPEF typically receives 10 to 30 grant applications each semester, and the number approved varies. In the last grant cycle in February, nine grant applications totaling $12,890 were approved.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
