Cushing man charged with sex offenses

STILLWATER, Okla. — Maynard LeRoy Lane, 39, Cushing, is expected to appear in Payne County District Court at 1:45 p.m. Thursday on charges of failing to register as a sex offender and sex offender residing within 1,000 feet of school.

Cushing police arrested Lane at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at his residence in the 1400 block of East Walnut Street, which is less than 2,000 feet from Cushing High School.

Lane was charged in 2004 of lewd molestation and rape by instrumentation.

He pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2006 and was sentenced to serve seven years in prison. He also was required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

According to a court affidavit filed Thursday, Lane failed to register as a sex offender. Sex offenders have limitation on where they can live.

Bail has been set at $10,000. Lane remains in the Payne County Jail.

If convicted, Lane could be sentenced to one to three years in prison and faces a fine of up to $3,000.
