Government Watch: Payne County Commission, Stillwater City Council meetings

STILLWATER, Okla. — Payne County commissioners will review Resource Enhancement and Protection grants for Diamond Valley and Progress School at its 9 a.m. Monday meeting at the Administration Building, 315 W. Sixth Ave.

Commissioners also will review appropriations and purchase orders.

Several Stillwater Regional Airport items are on the Stillwater City Council agenda. City councilors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis St.

All three items are on the consent docket. The airport’s taxiway project hit a small snag, some lighting needed to be moved because it would have been located under the widened taxiway. The contract with TTK Construct Co., needs to be amennded to include the $37,298.44 to relocate the lighting.

The Stillwater Regional Airport Authority approved a request to carry forward $150,000 — the amount the airport will receive from 2013 FAA Non-Primary Entitlement Funds. The airport can carry these funds forward for up to three years to accumulate a larger sum of money for airport projects. City councilors must approve the request.

A hanger lease to J.R. Reeves, manager of the Hanger 1 Flight Center is the last airport item on the agenda. In 2011, the airport authority renewed a hanger lease with five, one-year increments. This is the second annual renewal. Hanger 1 LLC offers flight training at the airport.

The Stillwater Utilities Authority Board of Trustees will meet after the City Council meeting at the same location. The utilities board will discuss purchase of backhoes, a skid steer and filters for the water treatment plant.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
