STILLWATER, Okla. —
The third annual Legend's Weekend is set to kickoff Friday. The festivities will run through Sunday and include live music, artists and Oklahoma State University athletics.
Event organizers say none of events have been changed or canceled due to the deadly bombings in Boston Monday but police said extra precautions would be taken to ensure the safety of attendees.
Events begin in downtown Stillwater Friday with the Stillwater Arts Festival Outdoor Concert. Val Joe and the Strike Anywheres will start the show at 4 p.m. And will be followed by the Straight Shooter Band at 6 p.m. Throughout the rest of the weekend live music will be performed and more than 100 artists will be exhibiting their work at the Stillwater Arts Festival.
The seventh annual Remember the Ten Run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday. The run is to celebrate the lives of the 10 men associated with Oklahoma State University basketball who died in a plane crash in 2001. Organizers are expecting more than 2,000 people to attend the run.
OSU baseball, softball and football teams will be playing. All Saturday’s games are free. Before and after the spring football game at 1:30 p.m. will be events at Eskimo Joe's including appearances by Joe, Buffy, and Pistol Pete. The OSU Alumni Association Spirit Tent will also be on site at Eskimo Joe’s before the scrimmage with drawings for prizes that include tickets to the football season opener.
Visitors can also take advantage of the Stillwater Public Library Spring Used Book Sale, a performance of Xanadu the Musical, Junior Day at OSU, the Botanic Garden at OSU open house, the Day of the Young Child Around the World and more.
