Stillwater police increase reward after another armed robbery

STILLWATER, Okla. —

The Stillwater Police Department is  offering $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of committing 10 armed robberies in Payne County, including nine in Stillwater.

Despite a $1,000 award police have been offering since the beginning of April, the armed robberies have continued.

The latest occurred Thursday at Great Wall chinese restaurant on Western Road. According to police, at around 8:33 p.m. a masked suspect holding a black pistol entered the back door of the business and contacted two employees.

He demanded money, the store's cordless phone and an employee's cellphone. He fled north on foot through an alley west of the business with an undiclosed amount of cash, a small plastic tip jar containing cash and the phones.

Employees described the suspect as a black male, approximately five feet, 10 inches tall weighing about 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black jacket and black slacks.

He was also wearing a homemade mask fashioned from a portion of gray sweat pants and light colored gloves. The victims stated he was armed with a small black handgun of unknown make or model.

Police Capt. Randy Dickerson said police have received numerous  tips which not panned out.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call the Stillwater Police Department 404-372-4171 or the anonymous tipline 405-742-8372.
