Cushing woman airlifted to Tulsa hospital after one-car accident

STILLWATER, Okla. — A 55-year-old Cushing woman is in serious condition in Tulsa’s St. Francis Hospital after sustaining head and upper body injuries in a one-car accident Friday 2.1 miles north of Cushing.

Diana Nickerson was driving a pickup south on State Highway 18 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when she swerved to miss a deer in the road. The pickup left the roadway, rolled 2.5 times before coming to rest on its roof. Nickerson was pinned for approximately 20 minutes, according to a report by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Conaghan.

Nickerson was airlifted to the Tulsa hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

She was wearing her seatbelt.
