STILLWATER, Okla. — Some Stillwater residents and Oklahoma State University students may have find a different route to campus.

Monroe Street, between West University Avenue and West Sixth Avenue, is closed as part of the West College Sewer Project, which affects 11 city blocks in an area bordered from north to south by West Sixth Avenue to West Fourth Avenue and east and west from Monroe to Walnut streets.

Work will include installation of new sewer lines that will run along residential streets instead of rear property lines. The city will need to close the street on each block for two to three weeks to install the new sewer mains.

McGwire Brothers Construction of Tulsa has been awarded the $2.37 million contract.

Water Utilities Engineer Brandon Neal said the project should be finished in early to mid-May, coinciding with OSU’s commencement.
