Texas motorcyclist injured in Sunday accident near Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. — A 41-year old Palestine, Texas, man was injured in a motorcycle accident at 6:51 p.m. Sunday on State Highway 51 approximately two miles west of Stillwater.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states Matthew Luke Richardson was taken by air ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in critical condition with head and arm injuries.

In Trooper Anthony Harper's report, the motorcycle, driven by Richardson, was traveling west on S.H. 51. It drifted off the north side of the road way and became airborne when it struck a bar ditch. The motorcycle went airborne 45 feet before Richardson separated from the motorcycle. The accident occured one tenth of a mile west of Redlands Road.

The cause of the accident still is under investigation. Harper's report indicates the odor of alcohol was detected on Richardson.
