Payne County deputies arrest man who sought drugs on Internet site

STILLWATER, Okla. — You never know who might be buying or selling on the Internet. One Craigslist user found out the hard way.

A post on Craigslist reading “Cancer patient looking to purchase some 420” caught the attention of a Payne County deputy, an affidavit shows. The deputy responded and the poster asked for six grams of marijuana for $100. The deputy checked out a 5.9 gram brick of marijuana from property and went to the residence with an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent, sheriff’s department records show.

According to the affidavit, after a brief conversation about the quality of the drugs, the suspect’s previous sources and Craigslist ads, the officer revealed who he was.

After a search of the residence, officers found a green bong and took it into evidence. A deputy contacted the doctor’s  office the suspect claimed he had been diagnosed regarding his cancer and could not find any evidence of a diagnosis.

Larry Dale Cowher, 62, of Stillwater is charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled dangerous drug.
