It's OK to dodge in annual K-Life tournament

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater residents will get the opportunity to dip, duck, dive and dodge as part of K-Life’s Fourth Annual Dodgeball Tournament Jan. 25 and 26 at Sunnybrook Christian Church.

Coordinator Walter Kearns said the event has maintained its popularity over the past few years.

“Dodge ball has kept it’s momentum mainly due to the fact of the energy from leaders and adults and kids,” he said. “People want to come out and have a good time with their family. People want to come out and have a blast and that’s what we try to provide — an outlet.”

The cost of registration is $20 per person and teams must have a minimum of six players. Entrants can register the day of the event, or pre-register before Thursday to guarantee receiving a T-shirt.

“Every year has grown in numbers and in teams,” Kearns said. “It’s been a pretty steady growth each year and I think that’s due to the fact that it’s fun.”

The tournament is broken down into three categories: elementary through junior high, high school to adult and college.

Registration for college students begins at 5 p.m. with a captain’s meeting at 6 p.m. and games starting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25. On Jan. 26, elementary through junior high will register at 9 a.m., have a captain’s meeting at 9:30 and games begin at 10 a.m. And later that day, high school students through adults will      register at 1 p.m., hold a captain’s meeting at 1:30 p.m. and begin games at 2 p.m.
