STILLWATER, Okla. —
If you haven’t gotten a flu shot yet, the Payne County Health Department has scheduled a special flu clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the health department in Stillwater.
“We had so much traffic last week we decided to do this,” said Public Information Officer Priscilla Smith.
Smith said they ordered an additional flu vaccine Friday. While the department has been giving shots in addition to general service, the wait can take a while, she said.
“This way, for that day, we won’t be doing anything but flu shots,” she said. “It’s still a first come, first serve but it should not be as long a wait time as before.”
According to a Payne County Health Department release, they will accept Health Choice Insurance, as well as Medicare and SoonerCare. Those 65 and older will not be assessed a fee. Those 18 and younger may be eligible for Vaccines for Children, a program for those who meet at least one requirement including having no insurance, being underinsured, being Native American or having SoonerCare.
All clients will be required to bring their ID and insurance cards. They will be screened according to income guidelines. According to the release, those with “incomes above 185 percent of the poverty level will be charged a fee of $25.”
