STILLWATER, Okla. —
A night of food, dancing and music is set as a Stillwater nonprofit prepares for its annual fundraising event.
Big Brothers Big Sisters will host “The Big Night” March 1 at the ConocoPhillips Oklahoma State University Alumni Center starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The event, in its 21st year, also marks another milestone.
“We’re excited about it this year because we’re commemorating 35 years with Big Brothers Big Sisters as an agency in Stillwater,” said Area Director Stephanie Fry.
The night will begin with a silent auction and live music from Stillwater group MORGAN.
“They play a great variety, but the field that we’ve enjoyed listening to her is jazz and almost a New Orleans jazz,” she said.
The silent auction will feature golfing experiences, packaged date nights and OSU packages. The honorary event chairman Oklahoma State University baseball coach Josh Holliday, will donate a signed jersey and baseball summer camp passes. His brother, Matt, will also donate an item. There are 30 to 40 items included in the auction.
The live auction portion of the night will include 18 items including a chef’s table for three couples through Meditations and vacation packages.
Fry said the Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year as well as the Champion of the Year will be announced and recognized at the event.
“The Champion of the Year is an honor bestowed to a supporter and advocate who embodies the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters and utilize their resources to benefit the agency.”
A wine and beer pull, as well as a cash bar, will be present. Appetizers and desserts will be served. The event requires business or cocktail attire.
Fry said this event is a big fundraiser for the organization.
“Between our auction and Bowl for Kids Sake, half of our funding comes from those two events,” she said.
Tickets are $25 a person or $40 a couple. A table of 10 can also be reserved for $250. Tickets may be purchased through bbbsbignight.org or by calling 624-9922.
Fry said bigs and littles will greet people as they arrive.
“Our organization being donor supported, the whole point of this benefit auction is to support one to one mentoring for children who need that support in Stillwater,” Fry said.
