LANGSTON, Okla. — The Langston Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its second annual Arts and Blues Festival from 2-6 p.m. Saturday on Main Street

Chamber CEO Charlene Meeks said the festival is set up as entertainment and educational event for three communities — Meridian, Coyle and Langston. However, Meeks invites any and all who wish to attend.

Artists from the area and around and out of the state will be on hand to display their works.

For example, an artist who attended last year will not only have a display, but instruct classes on how he works with foil to create animal and people’s likenesses.

“He was so amazing,” Meeks said. “Everyone wanted him to come back and teach them how to do the foil.”

Activities at the Arts and Blues Festival include pony rides, face painting, clowns and entertainment from the Langston University Greek Stomp Show, a blues band and the Guthrie Gun Fighters. Senior citizens will receive a free meal if they RSVP to the event.

“Everyone is welcome,” Meeks said. “It is free. They are welcome to display their art or perform and we just want to get everybody involved and try to do something for the community that is educational and inspirational so they have something to look forward to each year.”
