STILLWATER, Okla. —
A man suspected of committing a string of armed robberies in Stillwater and Payne County struck again Wednesday night, but this time he may left have an additional clue.
Stillwater police believe they have recovered a Mississippi State University sweatshirt the suspect wore during Wednesday’s robbery of the On-Cue at West 19th Avenue and Sangre Road, Stillwater police spokesman Capt. Randy Dickerson said via email.
Invesitgators believe the suspect threw the sweatshirt from a vehicle as he fled.
Stillwater police believe the same man is responsible for 11 armed robberies since January. Officers were dispatched to On-Cue at Sangre Road at approximately 10:15 p.m. and were advised a robbery had just occurred, police said.
The officers learned the suspect entered the store while the clerk was cleaning in the back.
When she came to the front, she was confronted by a gun-wielding suspect demanding two boxes of cigars and cash.
After getting the cash and cigars from the clerk, the suspect left north on foot. Police logs show the incident was a $385 loss for the store.
Witnesses described the suspect as a 5-foot, 10-inch black male with a medium build.
He was wearing khaki pants, a light-colored hoodie, a brown mask, white ballcap, white latex gloves and dark colored shoes.
Dickerson said police believe it is the same man suspected of committing 10 armed robberies in Stillwater and one in Perkins.
Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest and conviction.
The robberies began Jan. 17.
Approved Cash Advance, Git-N-Gallup, On-Cue, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, Cowboy Corner and Family Dollar in Perkins have all been robbed — some multiple times — by a similar looking suspect using a black handgun.
He often wears wigs, masks, hats and hooded sweatshirts to disguise his appearance.
Anyone with information about these robberies may contact the Stillwater Police Department at 405-372-4171 or the person can remain anonymous and call the tip line at 405-742-8327.
