STILLWATER, Okla. —
A group of students and volunteers are hoping Oklahoma State University fans and Stillwater residents will help out children in need this Christmas.
Each year, the OSU Student Government Association chooses one home football game to solicit donations in the form of toys or money.
This year, the SGA will set up at the Texas Tech football game Saturday. SGA Special Projects Coordinator Stephanie Easterly said there will be five to six collection booths.
“We’ll have boxes set up almost every other gate all around and outside of the stadium,” she said. “We’ll have two people working each of those booths.”
Student volunteers will also go from tailgate to tailgate and explain the project and ask for donations.
In addition to the toys donated, money given will be taken to local stores to purchase toys, which will be donated to local families in need during the holidays.
“Toys for Cowboys has proven to be such an impactful event the past couple of years and we are hoping for an even greater turnout in order to make a greater impact in the community of Stillwater,” Easterly said.
