STILLWATER, Okla. —
When the clock struck 6 a.m. Thursday, the city of Stillwater went “Krazy.”
Many stores in the Lakeview Pointe shopping center were participating in Krazy Days, the annual four-day shopping event in Stillwater.
One store that saw a lot of action was Belk.
Johnathon Phares, Belk’s manager, said this is his first Krazy Days. He said the process of preparing for the event fits its description — crazy.
“There was a lot of organization that had to go into it,” Phares said. “Trying to get everything together and sized is a process and we just want to deliver the best products to our customers.”
Customers started showing up to the Lakeview Pointe shopping center at 5:45 a.m. Thursday and it hasn’t slowed down, Phares said. He said people are grabbing items quicker than employees can restock.
Even though customers rush to the stores, Phares said it’s crazy because of the town’s atmosphere. He said he hasn’t seen anything like this before.
“We have some great prices and that draws people of course,” Phares said. “Putting it together and watching Stillwater go crazy for great deals is a site to see.”
One person who enjoys Krazy Days is Terry Roberts, who is a house mom and a Stillwater resident. She said a person can’t find any better deals and it is one of her favorite times of the year.
“Yeah, the deals are really good,” Roberts said. “I do a lot of grandkids shopping and you can’t beat this. It is a great weekend.”
Not only does Roberts enjoy shopping during Krazy Days, but she said she also has family join her. She said it is a time for her and her sister and mother to spend time together.
She said she has been participating in Krazy Days for approximately 10 years, and it’s become a girls’ tradition.
“We go around together and eat lunch and it’s different than what you see at other places,” Roberts said. “All of the other places I have come from has never had anything like this. I’ve never seen anything like Krazy Days. We enjoy it.”
Roberts said she never knows what she might find to buy. Not only does she find things to use but also looks for things she can use throughout the year.
She said buying birthday presents and other gifts are a good idea during the event. She said she can take care of many different shopping obstacles during the four days.
Roberts said if she had known about Krazy Days before she moved to Stillwater, she would have come sooner.
“I really wish I would have known about it when I lived somewhere else,” Roberts said. “It’s really good and you have to hit the right stores. Not everybody has good sales but some really do.
“I just wish they would do it in May, you know, when the college kids are in town. That seems like a better idea to me,” she said.
