Stillwater man killed after being struck by pickup while crossing street

STILLWATER, Okla. — A local man died Wednesday from a head injury sustained after a pickup struck him while crossing the street.

Gary Lynn Keith, 59, was transported from the scene by LifeNet EMS to Stillwater Medical Center. He was transferred to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa by AirEvac because of the extent of his injuries.  

The driver of the pickup, 27-year-old Dustin Lee Warden, sustained no injuries.

According to police, Keith was crossing the street at West Sixth Avenue and Lewis Street when a pickup turning west onto West Sixth Avenue struck him.

According to the collision report, the driver of the pickup did not see Keith crossing the street.

The collision report states that the driver’s visibility was obscured by the sun.

The accident occurred Tuesday evening. A blood sample was taken from the driver.

Alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected to have played a role in the accident, according to police.
