MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY: Volunteer encourages others to get involved

STILLWATER, Okla. — Name: Carola Pederson

Volunteers: Elite Repeat

Day job: N/A

What she does: Pederson is a manager at Elite Repeat resale shop in downtown Stillwater. She helps do everything in the store. This includes sorting, pricing, tagging and putting the items on display. Pederson mainly works with clothes and shoes.

“It’s a lot of work, and it takes a lot of people,” Pederson said.

She started volunteering several hours each week, but now helps out five days a week.

“My husband says if I worked this hard when I was working for money, we’d be rich,” Pederson said.

Why it’s important: After paying rent and bills, the profit made at Elite Repeat is donated to local charities.

Pederson said it is a good job because they do so much for the community.

“It’s much better than sitting home watching television,” Pederson said. “It’s so fulfilling.”

How you can help: Others can help at Elite Repeat by volunteering their time.

Donations are also appreciated. Pederson said the community helps by bringing in unwanted items in good condition.

Customers are also important to maintain the success of the business.

“Without them, we wouldn’t have anything.” Pederson said.
