Payne County Commission renews contracts for fiscal year 2015

STILLWATER, Okla. — At its Monday meeting, the Payne County Board of Commissioners approved a list of contract renewals for fiscal year 2015, which began July 1.

The county will pay a $253,898 lump sum to the Association of County Commissioners for its self-insurance program.

The board also approved a declaration of commitment to fair housing practices.

Glen Redding of the Stillwater Housing Authority appeared to speak about the importance of fair housing practices. He told the commissioners people who think they’re being illegally discriminated against can come to the Stillwater Housing Authority for help. He said the housing authority operates about 800 housing units and has 800-1,000 family units on its waiting list.

They approved a contract for juvenile detention services at $24.34 per day with Pottawattomie County and contracts for plumbing, electrical work, lawn care, pest control, elevator inspection and fire system testing as well as a copier lease for the assessor’s office.

They agreed to allocate $88,504 for the county’s portion of a joint project with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation that will replace a bridge that crosses Brush Creek south of Ripley. The bridge is closed, District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett said.

The board also approved $268,618 in purchase orders for fiscal year 2015 and $135,715 for fiscal year 2014.
