UPDATE: Officials say fall victim did not follow procedure

STILLWATER, Okla. — A man who fell off the roof of Will Rogers Elementary School on Monday was not following company procedures, said Construction Manager of Lambert Construction Gregg Bradshaw.

Bradshaw said the 18-year-old worker did not sustain life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall.

“The man who was injured is in a private room at Stillwater Medical Center for possibly one more night of observation,” he said.

Bradshaw said the worker was upgraded to fair or good condition. He said the area where the incident took place was inspected. Bradshaw said the worker, an employee of Boyer and Sons Roofing, fell 34 feet. He said he was able to speak to the worker’s father earlier Tuesday.

“The young man was able to walk around the hospital today and move around,” he said.

A representative of Boyer and Sons arrived at the construction site to speak with his other employees, Bradshaw said.

“The roofing contractor had immediate meetings with the rest of the crew who were following proper company working procedures,” he said.
