STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Friday Forum will provide Stillwater residents a chance to hear from the candidates of the upcoming city council election.
The special city council forum, slated for 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday at the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, will feature incumbent councilors Joe Weaver and Philip Pina and candidates Micah LeFebvre and Gina Noble.
President and CEO of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Lisa Navrkal said the event will educate those in attendance on where the candidates stand on the issues.
“Each candidate will be allowed to introduce themselves and deliver their platform,” she said. “They’ll each have five minutes to do so. Then, a series of questions will be directed to each candidate from pre-submited questions. If the public comes in or chamber members come in, they can write a question and we’ll have a facilitator and he’ll ask each of the candidates the same question and they’ll each have an opportunity to respond (for one minute).”
The event will end with three minutes of final comments from each candidate. Navrkal said candidates will likely stay around following the event for anyone with more questions.
“The chamber is not taking a stance on a candidate,” Navrkal said. “What we want is all of our members and all of our community to be educated about what’s important to them. So, it’s important for people to come and hear what each of the candidates are about and get out and vote on April 2.”
