STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater Board of Education will discuss proposed revisions to elementary school district boundaries when the board meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the administration building, 314 S. Lewis.
The school board reviewed a dozen redistricting plans before Model 13 was introduced at the Sept. 11 regular board meeting.
The newest proposed map considerably reduces the number of students impacted by boundary adjustments. Model 13 would allow students in the Surrey Hills, Berry Creek and Westbrook additions to remain in the Sangre Ridge Elementary School district. Students in the Westpark and Squires Landing apartments would remain in the Westwood Elementary School district.
The purpose of the rezoning is to ease overcrowding in some of the schools and to balance enrollment districtwide. The proposed plan would allow all elementary schools in the district to fall below the 70 percent level for free and reduced-price lunches.
Superintendent Ann Caine said she would be contacting families of each of the students impacted by rezoning to get their feedback.
Stillwater has not realigned school boundaries since 2008. Caine said the district has grown by more than 400 students.
