Two large storms tore through Payne County Monday night, bringing with them high winds and significant hail.
“I can tell you for sure we had reports of winds up to 58 mph,” Emergency Management Technician Rob Hill said.
Hill said the department had numerous reports of hail, including near the high school of baseball-sized hail.
Stillwater received 1.53 inches of rain, according to the OSU Agronomy Research Station.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for a sunny day with a 10 percent chance of storms. Wednesday and Thursday’s storm chance is 20 percent, increasing at night to 40 percent and 50 percent. There is a 50 percent chance of snow and sleet Friday afternoon.
Both Hill and Payne County Emergency Management Director Dave Lester said they’ve not had reports of major damage.
Hill said the more reports the department gets, the better.
“Any report they can send us are great because we can take those reports, put them together and send them to the Weather Service, and that helps them recreate what happened,” he said.
To report damage, call 372-7484.
