STILLWATER, Okla. — A Payne County Election Board report shows 42,142 county residents are registered to vote for Tuesday’s election.

In-person early voting wraps up its first day at 6 p.m. Friday at the Payne County Administration Building, 315 W. 6th.

Early voting continues 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A list of polling places and a sample ballot can be found at stwnewspress.com or paynecounty.org/election_board.php.

Payne County Election Board Secretary Alyson Dawson’s report shows 16,263 Democrats, 20,270 Republicans and 5,609 Independents are registered..

Out of the total number of registered voters, 35,100 are active and 7,042 are inactive. An inactive voter is someone who has not voted for two consecutive general elections, Dawson said.

Inactive voters may still vote Tuesday, but they must show proof of their current address.

The report shows 2,229 new voters registered for the election in October. In September, 839 new voters registered.

Dawson said the election board is “ready to go” for early voting Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday’s election. She said she estimates approximately 1,000 people will show up each day of early voting.

Dawson said her staff processes ballots as they arrive, including on election day.  After the polls close  at 7 p.m. Tuesday,

Dawson said results will be determined as soon as possible. They may be final by approximately 10 p.m., but it depends on how long it takes for all precincts to deliver their results.
