STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Payne County Economic Development Authority approved an $81,850 grant for the Yale Economic Development Authority Monday.
The grant will pave Prairie Road in Yale, which is in a new housing development.
County commissioner Gloria Hesser said the city of Yale had previously received a grant for paving the same road, but returned the money when the housing development didn’t materialize.
Yale city commissioner Richard Adsit said the Yale authority is comprised of Yale commissioners.
Payne County will control the money, distributing it to the Yale development authority as invoices are received.
“Last time you gave them money. This time you guys have more control,” Adsit said.
Adsit said the paved road will benefit houses in the development and the rest of the city because of electricity sales to the new homes.
Hesser said she was “happy about any kind of economic growth for Yale.”
