BREAKING NEWS: Man taken to hospital following Thursday morning motorcycle accident

STILLWATER, Okla. — A man was hospitalized with unknown injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car Thursday in Stillwater.

According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was driving north from the intersection of west Maple and Knoblock streets at approximately 11 a.m., Stillwater Police Sgt. Rodger Wall said.

The motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed when a single-passenger car pulled out of a private drive a half block away, Wall said.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist's wheel was off the ground before he crashed into the driver's side of the car.

Driver Caleb Axtell said he pulled out and did not see the motorcyclist.

"The last time I looked he was at the stop sign," Axtell said. "I heard screeching, hit the brakes and he came flying over the hood of my car."

Axtell said he had minor scrapes from the accident and the driver of the motorcycle was wearing his helmet.

LifeNet transported the cyclist to Stillwater Medical Center.

Wall said the injuries are unknown but don't appear to be life-threatening.

Officers are not releasing the name of the motorcyclist at this time.
